There's something for everyone in this Regional Park on the Tapora Peninsula west of Wellsford overlooking the Kaipara Harbour.
Gifted to Auckland City in 2008 by Jackie and Pierre Chatelanat who wanted to ensure that all New Zealanders could enjoy access to the Kaipara Harbour and that the cultural heritage values would be
protected.
This is a working farm — you may encounter a variety of farm
animals — and the combination of rolling farmland, wetland habitats, native forest sections, and open harbour views gives the place a
character quite different from the forested coastal parks
closer to Auckland.
Track Grade: Easy/Medium with approximate 400m elevation gain/descent, Approximately 4-5 hours tramping. Good trail shoes will be OK.
