Coastal, Okura Walkway - Sunday 17th May.

No Bus – please make your own way & please note this event is not on any public bus routes.

From the car park we will head east out towards the coast and cross a small stream to Dacre Cottage before heading south along the beach towards what is known as Dacre Point and explore a little way down the Okura River and around the stunning Karapiro Bay,  before returning to the cottage.
We should see many native sea birds wading on the outgoing 7.04am tide.  If we're lucky we may see some of the more rare sea birds.

The next stage will involve a small hill to climb with some very appealing views, before heading towards Stillwater, returning back the same way.

An easy tramp  that should suit all levels of fitness, expect to tramp around 4-5 hours.   But you will need good balance as the flat sheet rocks maybe slippery on the outgoing tide.

Trail shoes or non-leather boots are ideal.  As we're walking low tide, salt water is not good for leather tramping boots.
PLEASE BRING A CHANGE OF CLEAN SHOES FOR THE DRIVE HOME!!!  There is Kauri Dieback in the general area & we don't want to transfer this to other parks and places.

Cost: Free
