Join us to explore parts of the Bethell's Beach area that you may not have visited before,  different to what we did in March and with high tide around 11.32am, we will access areas where possible, hopefully including a few of the sea caves - if safe to do so on the day.  Afterwards we will head over to the 1km long Lake Wainamu for a swim in the fresh water lake that's surrounded by large forest and passing the massive black sand inland sand dune that's been on many films and tv adverts.
(Please note that the water drops off steeply from the edge of the dunes.  Please only enter the water if you're a competent swimmer).

This is a very picturesque area and a club favourite!

This will be a fairly easy day, suitable for fit family members too or friends too.  You will be walking on sandy surfaces and uneven rocky surfaces and walking up short steep areas of the sand dunes.
Trail runners would be most suitable, or possibly running shoes.  Sand and salt water will deteriorate tramping boots.

We're hoping that it's sunny so those that are keen might like to partake of a swim in the lake & possibly on the beach if the conditions are suitable & the lifeguards are on duty.

If you are keen, bring a small, lightweight tramping towel, sarong to change in and a change of undies so you're not tramping back to the start wet.

As always please ensure that all your gear is very clean, footwear, bag, walking pole etc.

Please also bring a change of footwear for the bus trip back and a bag to put your dirty footwear into and please clean all your gear thoroughly when you get home as good standard practice.
