9AM SHARP DEPARTURE!!!!

Organiser:  Imogen  0272898440  (No texts please newbies & calls before 9pm thank you)

Where:      921 Beach Road, Waiake Beach, Torbay.
To the right of the toilet block, by the shower, under the very large Norfolk Pines.

*  Please note the clubs Big Yellow tramping bus is away at Tongariro for the weekend, so this is a free tramp, as we don't have the club bus for this trip.

INFO FOR MASSEY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS - PUBLIC BUS DETAILS:
861 Bus should get you to and from the university to Waiake Beach.  There is a bus stop directly opposite the toilet block.
(Depending members who register and the number of students, there maybe cars going that way, but suss out the bus first - TBC)

We'll take a mixture of gravel tracks, slippery foreshore, a few paths & pavement past the pretty Winstone's Cove and through to Long Bay, and head up the headland to take in a few of the very scenic cliff top tracks before returning via different paths along the stream and back to Waiake Beach.
Being a foreshore tramp, the views will be very picturesque, so please make sure you have your camera or phone with you.

Please note the foreshore will be slippery and uneven.  There are hill climbs, but they're short climbs, nothing over 80 metres.    Expect to walk approximately 4-5 hours and approximately 16kms.
Please bring:  swimming gear, ample food and water (ideally 2 litres or more) and day pack and a raincoat, just in case we have any showers.   Comfortable trail shoes will be ideal.   Boots aren't a good mix around salty sea water.

There is a cafe directly across the road from the start point so you may like a coffee/hot drink or ice cream after tramping.

If joining us for this event, as with all tramps, please ensure that all your gear, especially footwear is scrupulously clean before and cleaned after as we are moving through a few parks and a Regional Park.

And bring a change of footwear for after as we will be going through a Kauri'd area.
