This will be part one of a two-part Mahurangi West and East exploration, the Eastern part to follow later in the year with longer days and workable tides.
This is a great time of the year to visit the exceptionally beautiful Mahurangi, we are guaranteed that it won’t be too busy. The Western part will start at Sullivans Bay, and head in a Northerly direction to Mita Bay and possibly on to Opahi Bay before returning via the coast to Sullivans, from there it will be a small steep climb up onto Cudlip Point, from there we head South down and cross the Te Muri stream outlet onto the relatively secluded Te Muri beach and campground at the Southern end before returning to the Bus.
This is an easy short day’s tramp, but nevertheless it involves some steep angled gravel walking tracks and travel over rocks that can be slippery at times as well as wet feet, so as with all tramp’s suitable footwear will be needed!
Please ensure you have a change of footwear for the bus journey home.
