WAIPU COASTAL WALKWAY
Join us, for a first for our club, the Waipu Coastal Walkway. If you've done the Orokawa Walkway in Waihi and enjoyed it, the you'll really love this cliff top coastal walkway, with glimmering blue waters below the track. The views are absolutely stunning & you'll see rare to this area, Pancake limestone rock formations, in fact you'll be clambering over them, especially in one part. Camera or phone camera are a must.
At the start with the high tide at roughly 7.45am, we'll all get wet feet to start to keep you cool to get onto the track.
The track goes up and down constantly, with a couple of very steep flights of stairs, especially around Ding Bay at our lunch spot with a beautiful view, so you need to have a good standard of fitness for this tramp, as we'll probably only have one group, possibly two if we have another suitable team leader on the day.
Please ensure you have 2 litres of water or more with you! As there's no where on track to find water, bar near where we'll start our tramp, but would like to avoid that. Bring money if you'd like to partake of an ice cream or coffee that are both right there at the end.
There should be an opportunity to swim at conclusion of the tramp, at Waipu Cove, crystal waters, for those keen for a cooling dip & there are showers there also. A small tramping towel if you need to dry off after dipping.
** PLEASE ensure that all of your gear is clean, poles, boots, bag etc, as always before and again afterwards. With fresh, clean footwear and bag and clothing on the bus for afterwards and fully cleaned afterwards.
