Continuing our give back to the community programme each year, this trip we will be tree planting at Te Muri, Mahurangi Regional Park West.   Another extremely beautiful park that we always enjoy tramping over and around the peninsula.    Our trip organiser has done many plantings at this location and the events here are well organised.

Tree planting is really important, as it provides vital habitat for the native creatures that rely on the sustenance and cover provided by these trees and also in gullies where there have been slips in the past, to hold the ground together to help prevent further slippage.

Come be part of part of something amazing and feel rewarded and satisfied and please let friends and family know too, if they want to join in.

Planting is from 8.45am to 12pm (TBC - low tide is approx 10.56am).  Tide time is very important as when we arrive, we have a short walk down the 4x4 track and cross the Te Muri Estuary to get to our planting site.  You may like to take your footwear off, or if wearing running shoes or trail runners, you can easily wade through the usually shin to knee deep water.

We will be planting into the sand dunes, so the planting is very easy and spades will be provided.  It's a good idea to bring your own gloves, although there are usually some there for use.

Dress for the weather, bring warm clothing, raincoat and gaitors are a good idea and wear closed solid footwear suitable for planting & full change of clothing and please remember to bring a change of clean footwear to wear in the bus for the return trip & a bag for your dirty footwear!!!).

Planting usually goes ahead regardless of the weather as this beach is usually fairly sheltered.

We will go for a walk around this beautiful park after lunch and planting.   The views here are absolutely stunning and there are many gorgeous native birds at Te Muri & Mahurangi.

Please ensure all your gear is scrubbed clean to start, as we do pass Kauri'd areas and as always ensure you thoroughly clean your gear afterwards.

**  (Please note newbies, this tree planting does not qualify as a full day trip for membership applications, as we're only tramping part of the day).
