Rangitoto Station, King Country 

Friday 14th October.

Rangitoto Station Reserve lies high up on the Rangitoto Range in the King Country, south-east of Otorohanga. and is owned by the NZ Forest Restoration Trust. 

It is a 427ha block of regenerating bush surrounded by protected mature forest, including Pureora Forest Park, Private reserves, and Maori Trust land.

 A huge effort has gone into predator control and as a result the area is renowned for the largest Kokako population in New Zealand. Come and walk the tracks of the area, hear the dawn chorus, and if you like, weather permitting, we may even camp out near Kokako nesting areas.

Please bring your sleeping gear and the odd tent as the house sleeps 12 so some may be sleeping in the barn, bus, or tents as well.
