Mother’s Day Special: An Urban Walk in Birkenhead and Northcote

Come on an urban walk discovering the small reserves and byways in the Birkenhead and Northcote areas.

Meet at the car park at Little Shoal Bay at 9.00am.

Walk through Onepoto Basin and into Tuff Crater.  Past the tennis courts at Lake Road.  Up through bush to Turner Reserve, across the Northcote College playing fields (to avoid part of the track affected by Kauri die back) and into Kauri Glen Reserve.  On to Birkenhead War Memorial Park and then through Chatswood to stunning views over Kendall Bay.  Then head for home through Chelsea Reserve, across Hinemoa Street and down through Le Roy Bush back to Little Shoal Bay.

All groups will tramp 5 hours plus, there will be some steep hills, although nothing over a 100 metre climb, terrain maybe also slippery and will be uneven.
