Piha Valley - Waitakere Ranges - fit kid & teen friendly (event changed 19 Jan)

  • 24 Jan 2021
  • 8:30 AM
  • 7 The Strand, Takapuna
At the 19th January, we've been advised that the Omanawanui Track is still not re-open, so we have rescheduled to another time.  Piha is our new destination.

The Kitekite Track has been upgraded and reopened to Kauri Dieback track standards just over year ago.

We will start from the main Piha beach and walk to the Tasman Lookout track, via Lion Rock (tide/wave dependent) and the distance party will do the Northern end of Piha, Te Waha Point. Then all groups will head up Glen Esk Valley to the extremely scenic Kitekite Track to the waterfall. Finally, down to the beach and back to the bus.

We may stop at the Piha Store on the way back or during the tramp for a yummy Ice cream etc.

Very important, PLEASE ensure all your gear is VERY clean, as Kitekite Falls and Piha are Kauri'd areas, so as always ensure you thoroughly clean your gear afterwards as there is Dieback in this area!!   And please ensure you have spare footwear on the bus for after, so no dirt is transferred!!!   No freshly tramped shoes permitted back on the bus!!!!

Please bring your own hand sanitiser just in case we need to stop somewhere along the way or to be used at boot stations.

Please if you are unwell, cold or flu type symptoms, please stay away.

** Non-members:  Please phone the organiser to check suitability of the tramp

Only come out with us if you are well.
You are welcome to use your face mask and hand sanitiser.
