Tracks around Arataki & important Kauri Dieback seminar

  • 27 Jan 2019
  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • The Strand, Takapuna

With some club members away for the weekend, we've added this to the programme for those staying.

As Kauri Dieback is something that is effecting all or our tramping, it would be amazing if we could get lots of people along, friends and family that like to tramp and hike too.

Upon arrival at Arataki Visitors Centre, we will head under and across the road to do the Nature Trails and Parker Track.

Returning to the Arataki Visitors for the 10am morning tea, before the free one hour Kauri Science Series seminar at 10.30am with Professor Rosie Bradshaw & Dr Nari Williams who will talk about the kauri dieback pathogen: weapons being employed for plant-pathogen warfare to help save our Kauri.

After the seminar we will hit the tracks again heading for Mackie's Rest, Pipeline Track & the Slip Track, some of the few tracks that are open in the area!
