DESCRIPTION:https://www.nstc.org.nz/event-2594477\n\n\n  Come along to the July social evening to hear an entertaining 45 minute talk - Nepal\, Beyond the Mountains by John Scully QSM:\n1.     My early Everest years\, Rob Hall\, Gary Ball\, Lydia Bradey.\n 2.     Commercial climbing.\n 3.     The plight of the Sherpa\n 4.     Conservation/ community work.  John has been trekking in the Everest region for over 29 years and has guided over 1\,200 people on Youth to Everest and Everest Base Camp treks.  He managed climbing expeditions to Mt Everest in 1988\, 1989 and 1990 before concentrating on trekking and conservation work.  John lives in St Arnaud\, Nelson Lakes National Park.  In the 2013 New Year's Honours John was awarded the Queens Service Medal for services to New Zealand Nepal relations.\n  As always\, Pam will be there to provide us all with tea\, coffee and tasty morsels.\n  Wednesday 26th July\, 7.30pm\n  Senior Citizens Hall\, behind spiral staircase\, behind Massimo Cafe\, The Strand Takapuna.\n\n  \n\n  \n\n\n
