Meeting place for trips below is HERE unless otherwise stated.

As a tramping club, on a day trip, expect to walk for 5 or more hours on a variety of uneven terrains.
It is normal on a day trip to have 3 different parties to cater for people of different abilities and speeds.


NOTE - Meet at trip departure point 15 minutes before depart time.

3 Aug - NIHOTUPU to ARATAKI - Waitakere Ranges
Ian takes us along a route beginning on Piha Road, touching Huia Road, and ending at Arataki Visitor Centre.

10 Aug - COSSEY’S DAM / WAIROA DAM - Hunua Ranges
The trip visits Hunua Falls and two dams, passing through an area where ARC conservationists have begun work on their second “mainland island” in these ranges.

17 Aug - ATIU CREEK REGIONAL PARK - Kaipara
ARC’s newest Regional Park, located about 15 km west of Wellsford, has about 340 ha of grazing land, large areas of native bush and wetland. There are many historic sites relating to Maori and European settlers.

24 Aug - WAIORONGOMAI - Kaimai Ranges
A valley extending deep into the hills, with good tracks and tramways built by the gold miners. Many mining relics to view. Some spectacular lookouts.

31 Aug - BETHELLS / KUATAIKA - Waitakere Ranges

An interesting area of sand dunes, a freshwater lake, waterfall, bush tracks, lookouts, and the mighty Tasman Sea nearby.

7 Sept - HAKARIMATA WALKWAY - Waikato
The walkway traverses the crest of the hills west of Waikato River between Huntly and Ngaruawahia, offering a good view of the river and Taupiri Mountain. Come prepared for a soak in the historic Waingaro hot springs later. Entrance to springs: Adults: $12 , Children: $5.

14 Sept - TAKAPUNA to LONG BAY or OKURA - North Shore coastal walk

Returning by public transport from Long Bay. This route will form part of Te Araroa, the long pathway.

21 Sept - RANGITOTO ISLAND - Hauraki Gulf
As part of our tradition, we remember the Club’s founding by making our annual trip to Rangitoto Island. Bring your own lunch and drink.
Depart 9:25 at Devonport Wharf  (or 9:15 at Downtown Ferry Terminal)

28 Sept - WAIRERE FALLS - Kaimai Ranges
The waterfall is majestic, especially after heavy rain. Pray for bad weather ! Remember to rise early, as daylight savings began last night.

A new tramp for our club, based on an idea by Auckland writer Colin Moore. He visited 7 of Auckland’s volcanic cones in under 7 hours. How long will trampers take ?

Labour weekend 2008 - Tongariro National Park
