club, on a day trip, expect to walk for 5 or more hours on a variety of
uneven terrains.
It is normal on a day trip to have 3 different parties to cater for
people of different abilities and speeds.

The trip visits Hunua Falls and two dams, passing through an area where
ARC conservationists have begun work on their second “mainland island”
in these ranges.

PARK - Kaipara
ARC’s newest Regional Park, located about 15 km
west of Wellsford, has about 340 ha of grazing land, large areas of
native bush and wetland. There are many historic sites relating to Maori
and European settlers.

7 Sept - HAKARIMATA WALKWAY - Waikato
The walkway traverses the crest of the hills west
of Waikato River between Huntly and Ngaruawahia, offering a good view of
the river and Taupiri Mountain. Come prepared for a soak in the historic
Waingaro hot springs later. Entrance to springs: Adults: $12 , Children:
