Online Payments – the club now has an online banking to make it easier to administer the bank account.  Online payments are welcome for:
  • away trips
  • membership subscriptions
  • banking collected Sunday trip fees

Remember to insert appropriate references unless you want it  to be accepted as a donation! The bank account number is on the trip forms or contact a committee member.  See here for contact details. 

General Information & Safety Guidelines - The committee has updated the General Information and Safety Guidelines.  Copies can be found on the bus and the website.

Overdue Parties - Helen Orchard has written guidelines for what to do if a party is overdue. A copy will be held on the bus and on the website Useful Info page here.

Organising a Day Trip - Gill Sanders is writing a new guide for organisers of day trips.  A copy is  on the website Useful Info page here and will be given to trip organisers.

Safety in the Mountains Guide -  This guide was last revised in 2003 and FMC are updating it.  Members will receive a copy of the updated guide when they renew membership for 2012/2013.

Club cards –  the club has producing business cards which we can use to promote ourselves – thanks to Pierre for this.  
Massimo café has already expressed an interest in having some on hand for those who ask about the big yellow bus outside!

Maps of Waitakeres. New maps are being ordered and will be available at the next social meeting

FMC Safety in the Mountains  FMC has updated these booklets and they also will be available at the next social.  Highly recommended for all trampers, especially new ones, this is an invaluable guide to safe tramping practices. 

New bus driver.  Alan Spencer drove his first trip recently and did a great job. Thanks, Alan.

New members Welcome back to Peter and Beryl Utting.

FMC Photo Competition – Entries are due to FMC by 16 April.  Ian agreed to co-ordinate. 3 members entered last year. 

Committee Minutes will be sent out via email as a trial – as a way of keeping you up to date with developments.

Projector – needs to be replaced as it is not economic to repair the old one. 

Website Traffic – December and January have been the busiest months ever with traffic up 50%. The proportion  of new visitors has grown from 50% to 65%. 

Guidelines for Lost Trip Parties/Members – the loss of one person from a group on a recent trip highlighted that there are no guidelines for trip organisers and leaders about what to do when a trip member or party goes missing or is overdue. Helen will write up some recommendations. 

Club Open Day – A Sunday trip on the Okura walkway in May will be promoted to help build interest in the club. See What's On for details.

New committee. The committee welcomed a number of new members this year

- Membership secretary: Katy Johns

- Transport: Ian G Morris has added this to his other jobs

- Committee Member: Imogen Hewlett

- Trips: Helen Orchard is the committee member who is in the trip group. This group now comprises, Helen, Ian Bumper Morris, Pierre and Roger.

Back up members: this year we also have Pierre, Trish, Dora and Chris French who will attend committee meetings if and when needed to enable a quorum.

Thanks to now-retired committee members. Lynda and Mark Percy for their much appreciated work for the club over the years.  Mark has now retired from being a driver – many thanks too for the years of driving for us, Mark.

The club boot   Efforts have been made to use the club’s traditional boot sign where possible- on the web page and in the newsletter.

Renewal of Membership On-Line - Garry is working on  this.

Web Page Trip Reports section of Web page It was decided that the Trips report section of the web page should only have club trips, and that these should be recent ones. The committee felt that this is what people want to see when they look on our club web page.

Website stats100 visitors per week go to the web page – half of whom are new people.

Which sections do they visit? Mostly they are accessing the “What’s On” section and the “Trip Reports” closely followed by “How to Join” which is all very encouraging.  It is mostly New Zealanders who  are accessing our web page
